(BPW). Allen had a vision to create a painting company that would gain the respect of clients and become a prominent player in the painting industry. The industry was not new to Allen, who had started his career as a teenager working at a three-generation family painting business with his two brothers. Early on in his career, Allen learned the importance of executing each project with excellence. After spending the first 10 years in the residential market, BPW expanded into the commercial space. By the end of the 1990s, BPW became an exclusively commercial painting company. BPW decided to move into a 14,000 sq. ft. facility in Trussville, Alabama to allow growth due to the increasing demand on their services. Through hard work and dedication, BPW is a trusted name in the Alabama painting market. BPW's reputation resulted in various opportunities outside of Alabama including Georgia, Mississippi, Florida, Louisiana, Tennessee, Kentucky, North and South Carolina, and Virginia. BPW now specializes in commercial painting, commercial wallcovering, specialty coatings, intumescent paint, fluid applied roof coatings, and lead paint encapsulation. The Ridgecrest South Residence Hall (RSRH), at over 375,000 square feet, is the third largest building on campus. With two wings of dorms connected by a common area and 250 units, RSRH is the largest dormitory on campus. The 5-floor residential hall is serviced by a brand new 3 level parking garage. BPW was on an exclu- sive pre-qualified list of contractors that UA's trusted for construction efforts and was selected for the $900K paint project. This large scale painting operation necessitated 17 colors of paint. Accurate estimation, project planning, and expedient execution were a must to meet the requirements for the job. UA's early fall move-in date was fast approaching, and the scheduled construction completion date did not leave room for delay. The RSRH project had to be completed on time.
